Hammel Plast Implements UR Robot for Injection Moulding Machine
Swift Implementation
At Hammel Plast, a UR robot has become an integral part of production. The company identified a collaborative robot from Universal Robots as a suitable replacement for their old robot. Thanks to swift delivery and implementation, the UR robot was operational within just one day.

Challenge
Hammel Plast needed to replace an older robot in their production as quickly as possible, making delivery time and flexibility critical factors.
Solution
Hammel Plast chose to replace the old robot with a new UR robot from BILA. The new UR10e robot handles lead parts, eliminating direct contact with lead.

The UR robot was easy to get up and running—operational in just one day and has performed flawlessly ever since. Additionally, it is easy for Hammel Plast employees to program.
About Hammel Plast
Hammel Plast traces its roots back to 1989, when it all began with an idea and a passion for tool manufacturing. Over the years, the company has expanded rapidly, automating production as order volumes grew. At Hammel Plast, they develop and manufacture injection-moulded plastic parts.
In 2022, the company acquired its first UR robot, a UR10e, reusing the gripper from the old robot. With the ability to produce many items in-house, including robot equipment, Hammel Plast saved considerable time by picking up the robot from BILA and handling the installation themselves.
Automation is a significant focus for Hammel Plast. The new UR robot is designated for handling lead parts to minimise direct contact with lead, making automation a clear choice.
"We received excellent assistance when we urgently needed a new robot, ensuring we could continue to meet our deadlines,"
says Anders Rasmussen, Project Manager
Rapid Implementation
For Hammel Plast, quick delivery was crucial. From the time they purchased the robot, picked it up, and implemented it at the machine, less than a week passed, avoiding extended lead times on their orders.
"A UR robot is quick and easy to deploy, allowing us to get it up and running in just one day, and it has performed flawlessly ever since," says Anders Rasmussen, Project Manager.
Automation remains a priority for the company, and with the new UR10e, they see the potential to reassign it to other tasks in production, as it currently operates at only 50-60% capacity. Since introducing the UR robot, Hammel Plast also sees the opportunity for their employees to program it, as a UR robot is easier to program, even for those with no prior programming experience, concludes Anders Rasmussen.
